Dev C%2b%2b Add Icon To Exe

Adding a icon to the project made in visual studio. Like having shortcut in desktop. This video shows how the default icon can be changed in visual studio. Nov 21, 2019 Run the command to compile your program. Type g yourprogram.cpp (replace that name with the name of your actual CPP file) and press ↵ Enter to compile your CPP file into an EXE. As long as there are no errors in your C code, a new file ending in 'EXE' will appear in the current folder. Add the resource.rc file to your project. It works on visual studio, code::blocks and dev-c NOTE: 1. Myicon.ico is the name of your icon. Myicon.ico should be in the same directory as resource.rc. Just hit Ctrl+R to bring up your Insert Resource Dialog. Click on Import to select your icon or Icon to create an icon. Then go File - Save/Save All. Name it something like MyScript.rc or something like that. Then add it to the project by going to Project - Add to project - Files and select your MyScript.rc or whatever you named it.

  • Forgot to add - you'll find the IDI definitions in the resources (.rc file). If you're using Visual Studio, it will be in the icon subtree. RE: add custom icon to.exe visual C.

If you go to the Dev C++ folder, you can find the .exe file of the program, but the icon will be the old default clumsy one. Just for an example let me create a small program and show you the exe file. Here ya go!
To change the icon, you need two things :
1. Dev-C++ 2. .ico file
.ico file basically is just an image file which is used as an icon. You can easily find an ico creator or an ico converter online.
  • In Dev-C++, click on Project --> Project Options.

  • Click on the 'Browse' button in the icon section.
