- Counterfeited Leupold Prismatic riflescopes: The absence of a serial number and barcode on the bottom of the scope is the easiest way to identify these counterfeits. A brass ring may be visible when looking into the objective and screws can be seen on the top of the finger click adjustments under the caps.
- Dec 31, 2010 On a roof prism Steiner the serial number is located underneath between the two barrels on the hinge. Roof prisms are binoculars where the objective and the eyepieces are in line. I thought I would post this date of manufacture code index for those that may be interested in 'dating' a Leupold scope.
Every Leupold scope produced since 1974 will have a letter included in the serial number acting as a date-code. Scopes using a letter as a prefix (the beginning of the serial number) were produced between 1974 and 1992. Scopes using a letter as a suffix (the end of the serial number) have been produced after 1992. On the chart below, you will notice the letters “I,” “O,” and “Q” have been omitted as they are easily mistaken for “1,” “0,” and “0” respectively.

If you searching to evaluate Leupold Rx 650 6x20mm And Leupold Scope Serial Number Date price.
It's older than 1973 based on their serial numbers, but no one was in the shop for the holidays to verify. My questions are, are old scopes worth having cleaned or having a BDC added, or is the new glass a million times better. I've only heard awesome things about Leupold's warranty information. Hi I have a Loupold 3-9-50 scope which apears new and came with a rifel but I dont know the moddle number? The serial number is 285309V Is there any way I can find out? Looking on the site the only 3-9 50 is the VX2 and it looks the same but lacks the little gold badge. It just has a code.
